Professor George Mark Onyango is a trained practising urban and registered planner with years of practical experience.
Prof. Onyango has been engaged in postgraduate training; as a Coordinator of Centre for Social Sciences, Arts and Education in the then School of Postgraduate Studies, Maseno University College. He was also key in developing postgraduate programs in the School of Planning and Architecture.
Prof. Onyango has years of administrative experience having risen up the rungs to the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Planning, Research and Extension Services. During this period he was instrumental in developing the research policy for the university and strengthening linkages with institutions outside Maseno.
He has worked with various organizations across Africa in facilitating development research interventions and building institutional capacities, He has been actively engaged in building the knowledge and skills base of many development practitioners within and outside the university environment. This has included development of 1) Code of Conduct for Postgraduates and 2) Post Graduate Supervision Policy for Commission for University Education.
