The Bachelor of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning is a multidisciplinary programme that exposes students to various disciplines that are appropriate to the profession of Spatial Planning. The profession is concerned with analysis of the forces that influence the growth and development of cities, regions, and rural areas. Planning recognizes the different spatial levels within which planners operate. The programme therefore is designed to enable candidates to appreciate the interaction between spatial planning and development at rural, urban or regional level. Planners are concerned with “what ought to be done in different spaces” to improve conditions for the future and to divert undesirable trends .The courses are designed to train planning managers for public and private sector as well as undertaking research and teaching in institutions of higher learning
